Taylor grew up in St. George, Utah and has never left. He grew up playing football, basketball, and baseball. He loved the outdoors growing up and tried to do everything he could outside to hunting, mountain biking, boating, anything he could do to be outside. He didn’t start rock climbing until the age of 15 years old, but even then he was too focused on his sports throughout high school to really push his rock climbing. Injuries in baseball and football kept him from being able to play in college, but gave him the opportunity to pursue his climbing. Taylor says getting injured in sports could be the best thing that has happened to him because it allowed him to find his passion in rock climbing. After graduating from high school Taylor went to college for a degree in Firefighting/paramedic. But after a year of school Taylor started working at a custom cabinet shop and found another passion in wood working and continues to work at it to this day. Now working full time at the shop with an adjustable work schedule, he always has time to get his climbing in.
