Dennis began climbing at the age of 12 at a small gym in the SF Bay Area. From an early age he became obsessed. He climbed everything and anything and found himself on the US Climbing Team just a few years later. Yes, he even has a JCCA number. Dennis then heard the call for duty and joined the US Marine Corps on March 6, 2003. Just 11 days before the war in Iraq start. Nine years and three combat deployments later Dennis left the military to pursue his passion of climbing and being in the mountains. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2012 with this wife and attended graduate school at the University of Utah earning a Masters of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Dennis now climbs regularly around the western US and is passionate about sharing the awe of the wild places he loves to be. When he is not out climbing you can find him out skiing, snowboarding, cycling, fishing and trying to share the wonders of the outdoors with his new daughter #climberdads.
Favorite pair of Evolvs? Shamans. Great for steep climbing but it still edges well on thin face and even in thin cracks.
Winter or Summer? Summer. You can get into the mountains, explore, adventure, and find what you want. It’s warm enough to jump in a lake, wildlife is out, and it’s nice enough chill in the backyard with a bbq at night. Winter in SLC is rough….
If you could invite anyone to be your dinner guest, dead or alive, who would it be?
John Muir. He saw the need for conservation of wild lands long before anyone was even thinking about it. His vision still lasts to this day and it is our job to ensure our kids and grandkids get to be outside in the same land John Muir was.
