Brett Jessen

Brett is always working towards a consistent flow of hard work, hard climbing, and chilling. He still enjoys training for the next project and continues after nineteen years to push himself through the 5.13’s. Bret has over 40 ascents of 5.13, 250 ascents of 5.12, and too many ascents of 5.11 to count. He turns 40 this year – 39 was his most successful climbing year yet, and he believes 5.14 is within his grasp. “Age is no excuse!” he says. Brett went to school for photography, but put that career on hold to work on his climbing. He is currently traveling the country building climbing walls to bank cash for future climbing trips. It has always been his goal to climb trad, climb sport, and boulder at the same level, which he feels is within reach. Brett advises other climbers, “Once climbing no longer becomes enjoyable, take some time off to build the stoke!”

Number one song played on your iPod? Purity Ring’s “Stranger Than Earth”

If you could invite anyone to be your dinner guest, dead or alive, who would it be? My grandma

If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would do? Buy an Airstream and remodel it so that I could have a comfortable place to crash at the local crag
