Piper began going to the climbing gym at around age 8, and joined a competitive team around age 11. Since then, she’s competed at many National Championships, but speed and lead climbing are by far her favorite. In 2016 she placed fourth at the Youth Speed National Championships and had the amazing opportunity to compete at Youth World Championships in Guangzhou, China. She also love climbing outdoors at the Red because they have her favorite type of walls- long, steep, and juggy. After she finishes high school, she plans on taking a gap year to travel the country in her van and climb at some of the places on her wish list like Smith Rocks and Joshua Tree. After that, she (maybe) plans on attending college to study business or political science.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
If I could learn to do anything it would be to speak fluent Spanish. I’ve always wanted to be bilingual and it would be a lot easier to communicate when I travel if I knew two languages.
