If you ask a group of people to try something very hard, some will not even bother trying, some will give it a couple of tries and say it’s impossible, and some others will show endless motivation and will keep trying even if everyone is telling them it’s impossible. Olivier is part of the last category. You may find him at the base of a long multi-pitch with a full trad rack, hangdogging while trying a new project, pulling on plastic with great enthusiasm, carrying one (or two, or three) crashpads and a huge chalk bag ready to spend the day with some friends bouldering, or even wondering in the woods all by himself just for the fun of it. He may be found defeated by the rock but always psyched.
Olivier started climbing in 2006 at the age of 26. In 2013, his dedication to climbing paid off when he bouldered his first V12 and climbed his first 5.14. In 2015, new adventures are awaiting, as with he will now be rock climbing with a new member of the family in tow!
Favorite pair of Evolvs? Shamans. I love everything about these shoes: they have a perfect toe box that is really nice for toe hooking, a comfortable and precise heel that makes them a great choice for tricky heel-toe cams, and a rubber sole that is more durable than what I have experienced with other shoe brands.
Winter or Summer? I actually prefer spring and fall for the climbing temps!
What’s in your fridge right now? A lot of apples grown in Quebec, and a huge jar of dill pickles! I buy food which stands somewhere between super-healthy-organic-vegan food and not-so-organic and ultra salty fries.
