Kaleb Thomas

Kaleb Thomas hails from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, the most easterly point in all of North America! Kaleb spent his early years playing hockey, sucking at skateboarding and pretending to play musical instruments. Around the spring of 2004 Kaleb visited the local climbing gym, Wallnuts, with a few friends and was instantly taken in by the sport. Kaleb spent most of his time on the gyms bouldering wall. Over the years, Kaleb began teaching/setting at the gym, and was a member of the first Newfoundland Provincial Climbing Team. Kaleb cut his teeth Bouldering all over the island, he got scared on sport climbs in Flatrock and one time even went all the way to the South Coast and got scared and didn’t climb anything. Around the summer of 2012 Kaleb, and his long-term girlfriend, moved to Victoria pursue a setting job at Crag X. While in Victoria Kaleb was exposed to a wealth of strong climbers and became increasingly motivated to try hard. Psyched on the amazing sandstone bouldering the island has tucked away, Kaleb became a regular face at the local bouldering spots. Motivated by his friends and the quality of the problems Kaleb worked his way threw a lot of area classics and added a few new problems to the local circuit. Kaleb now lives in Squamish, in a Van, with Katie… and a dog… and works as a freelance route-setter in Vancouver, traveling down the 99 to set for competitions, and special events. His main goals right now are to set competitions, climb fun boulders and enjoy his youth while he still has it!

Number one song played on your ipod? So I actually looked and its “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. One of my favorite albums, best bass solo, No Doubt. !
My iPod say I jam the Dr. Dre “Chronic 2001” record a lot too… Love climbing
with that on!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Maybe this is generic but I would want to learn all the languages. Or at least the really good ones. I think it would be so fun to be able to communicate with anyone no matter where you are, or where they are!

If you won the lottery what’s the first thing you would do? Replace the 96 Astro with a super fly Sprinter van… With a shower and guy to cook me food. !
Either that or blow every penny of it on burritos and beer and for every dirtbag at the chief. That would be pretty O.G.
